Council Tax -Tories in a spin

2.09.06pm GMT Thu 13th Jan 2005

Watch out for Tory spin when Council Tax bills arrive in the Spring.

Last year, Conservatives who run Hampshire County Council were quick to warn of big tax rises to come.

But they put millions of pounds of your money in the bank so they can give it back to you just before the election!

With 're-banding' around the corner, Council Tax bills are likely to keep on growing.

Liberal Democrats want to scrap the Council Tax altogether and replace it with a fairer system based on ability to pay.
