Liberal Democrats - Winning for Hampshire

Library funds latest

11.06.00am GMT Wed 9th Feb 2005

Conservative plans for our libraries are in chaos.

Conservative-run Hampshire County Council cut £500,000 from the 'book fund' - used to buy new books for libraries in Hampshire this year.

The cut was meant to fund much needed improvements to library buildings. But now Lib Dem councillors have discovered that half the money has had to be returned because the improvements have not happened as planned.

The Conservatives have been forced into a u-turn because of their incompetent planning.
